Six Month Offer funding available for training
Live in East Midlands and unemployed for 6 months or more?
You may be entitled to funding to retrain for a career in Web/eBusiness with AxisCentre and De Montfort University.
Summary
Funding is available to help re-skill unemployed people in the East Midlands that have been unemployed for 6 months or more. The funding, known as "The 6 month offer" ("Stage 3 funding") can cover the cost of re-training for a wide variety of roles including eBusiness, eMarketing, graphics and more, plus as a way of rapidly increasing the appeal of an existing skill-set or CV.
Stage 3 Funding
Stage 3 funding, also know as the 6 month offer is basically central government funding for training the longer term unemployed. AxisCentre, as part of Castle College Nottingham can access funding direct for those who have been identified as eligible. More information about the Six Month Offer
Unemployed for less than 6 months?
Those unemployed for less than 6 months (known as Stage 2 unemployed) cannot generally access training funds at present. However, it is possible to gain a Fast-Track status, and thus gain training funds early. To apply for this please discuss this with your Job Centre Advisor. Our very first applicant on this funding successfully gained a Fast-Track after pointing out that the skills gained are in high demand and thus likely to significantly increase his employment prospects.
What courses at AxisCentre are eligible?
All courses at AxisCentre are potentially eligible for Stage 3 funding support provided you can make the case that the course (or package of courses) is important to your career plans and employment prospects. You can do an individual course module in say Web Design, or potentially a number of modules that add up to a full 60 UCPD qualification (dependent on funding available).
What are the criteria for eligibility?
The basic criteria for help from this initiative is that you live in the East Midlands region, and have been in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance for 6 months or longer (see also the note above on being Fast-Tracked).
Funding and dates?
AxisCentre as part of Castle College makes the funding claim so this does not require your job centre to pay your fees. We strongly suggest that you approach your Job Centre Advisor if you think you may be eligible. Remember if you have been unemployed for less than 6 months, to ask about being Fast-Tracked.
The funding available will depend on your circumstances, and course module options. However there is the potential for you to access from a single 3 day module, to a longer full programme, even a full UCPD course and qualification.
Individual course or full qualification
When considering studying at AxisCentre, you have two basic options. You can either target an individual course (module) you require, or target a group of course modules that form a full qualification.
Simply put, each course at AxisCentre in addition to being a stand-alone professional course giving you a specific skills, also has credits attached to it. You can therefore collect credits and form a full UCPD University Certificate of Professional Development, a respected and innovative Higher Education qualification awarded by AxisCentre's partners De Montfort University.
