Axis Centre provides specialist eBusiness training and support to businesses, entrepreneurs, web professionals, and those aspiring to a career in these fields. A unique partnership between Castle College, Nottingham, and De Montfort University, Leicester, our mission is to:

Twenty years ago Tim Berners-Lee, a young English academic working at CERN in Switzerland wrote a short paper sketching out his idea for a 'world wide web'. From a genesis of an idea, it's taken less than two decades for the web to become an unstoppable social, business and economic phenomenon, a revolution that will leave few industries or careers untouched.

AxisCentre is about helping you as a business and individual prepare for and exploit this revolution. It's about gaining the right practical, tactical and strategic skills and knowledge to future proof your business and career, from basic web design skills to strategic eMarketing.

The community

AxisCentre has an ethos of sharing knowledge and support within a community of users and providers of web technology. We used buzz words like Social networking and Community well before their rise to popularity to simply describe our ideals and our place in the ecosystem of business.

Our original community incarnation, AxisCommunity has evolved in eChampions (www.eChampions.co.uk), a partnership led by us involving De Montfort University and a number of other colleges, but the ideals of collectively as well as individually moving on, remain.

It's worth pointing out that our community ethos continues to influence our fee prices. Even in difficult times and successive UK educational funding cuts, we don't charge the usual full commercial training rates which can be as high as £400 a day in this field. Affordability and minimising barriers to accessing skills has for a long time been a part of Further Education and our roots as part of Castle College result in class-leading affordability and fees typically around £60-£75 per day.

The future

With a long history & reputation in a relatively new field, we have been training the professionals and businesses in web design, development and promotion since the early days of the web in the UK. However just as the Web continues to evolve, so does AxisCentre.

Increasingly the emphasis online has shifted from simply technology and developer skills, towards the commercialisation of the web, reflected in the rise of low cost tools and applications, Open Source, and Social media platforms.

We aim to continually reflect, and position the centres courses and support offerings at the epicentre of where things are happening and look forward to welcoming you to the centre and to helping you achieve your business and career goals using the Web in 2010 and beyond.
