Course Outline
A practical website improvement course and workshop concentrating on identifying, planning for and implementing improvements to a business website including making changes to website code, Search Engine Optimisation, graphics, plus site layout and persuasive written content.
This course uses a workshop approach to facilitate the planning and implementation of web based content improvement. Implementing web copy, media and simple code modifications with the objective of raising search engine profile and increase general productivity of a business web presence.
Over the three days you will learn the basic techniques required to maintain your website with minimal technical expertise and importantly not occurring unnecessary costs to third parties.
Delegates can also gain professional qualification credits towards a 60 credit University Certificate of Professional Development or degree from De Montfort University.
This module is worth 10 UCPD credits.

- Analysis and review of existing content
- Understanding usability in the context of website improvement
- The relationship between local and live sites
- Setting up and use of FTP
- Creating a local copy of a site
- An overview of Dreamweaver for web changes
- Implementing changes to their web sites
- Design view properties within Dreamweaver
- Design view and code view
- Changing title, meta tags, alt attributes and text
- Changing linked pages and optimising links
- Adding additional web pages
- Resaving from templates
- Optimising images on the web
- Implementing web analytics and stat tracking
- Testing site changes
- Create an action plan for further content improvement
Who is it aimed at?
This course is aimed at entrepreneurs and businesses who want to be able to maintain a company website and implement optimisations for search engines.
Entry requirements
An understanding of basic web design concepts and simple optimisation sites for search engines is preferred (or attendance of the eMarketing & Persuasive Content Development course or Search Engine Optimisation course at AxisCentre). Ideally, delegates should have a live company website on which to make changes. Delegates with access to their web hosting packages may be also be able to make live changes to their site during the course, dependent on the technology used.
Delivery method
The course is a 3 day fully trainer led course. To help reduce the effect on your business of losing a member of staff for 3 days, this course runs 1 day a week over 3 weeks. Delegates then have the time needed to absorb and implement the information gained during these intensive training days.
